Medical Assistant

Medical assistants help healthcare professionals with clinical tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering medications, and preparing patients for examinations. They may also perform office tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and gathering patient information.

Students learn skills in:

  • Gathering vital signs and assisting with clinical procedures
  • Laboratory specimen collection and phlebotomy
  • Administrative skills such as insurance claims and medical coding and records

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (25400 US Hwy 19 North Ste. 158, Clearwater, FL 33763, 727-210-2350) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Educational Review Board. Only students who graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program or ABHES-accredited programs are allowed to take the national certification exam to become a CMA (AAMA).
