Electrician

Residential and commercial electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in a wide variety of facilities. Electricians combine technical knowledge with hands-on skills to ensure that electrical systems run safely and efficiently.

Students learn skills in:

  • Residential, commercial and industrial wiring practices
  • Construction and electrical safety
  • Navigation of the National Electrical Code®
  • Wired and automated control systems
  • Building integrated systems (lighting, information technology infrastructure, safety and climate systems)
  • Electrical calculations proven through hands-on labs
  • Reading of schematics, structural prints and wiring diagrams
  • Soft skills required to be a valued employee or business owner
